Madeiran João Borsch writes, composes and interprets a nice and brilliant but not very serious sound. With references that span through decades and that shouldn’t agree with each other, but astoundingly do so. With lyrics somewhere between innuendo and irony, his entire album embraces queerness, and the subversion of expectations. Too good for radio, but strangely possibly able to work on TikTok – that is, if Portuguese music ever got the chance.
